Mrs. Sara Jane McNeely Farris, 76, retired from General Electric/Fedders and resident of Granada Drive, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be conducted at 12 noon Thursday at Polk Memorial Gardens with Bobby Sampson officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 10 until 11:30 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late David Leonard McNeely and Fannie Walker McNeely. She was a graduate of Spring Hill High School. She was married to William Jefferson Farris who preceded her in death in 1965. Mrs. Farris enjoyed cooking, gardening and working in her yard. She spent time with the "Spring Hill Beauties" traveling and exploring local history. She was a member of Brown's Chapel Church of Christ. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Renee Farris and Susan Gail Farris Pipkin both of Columbia; one grandson, Christian Taylor Nix of Columbia; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Kincaide West of Columbia; brother, Jimmy (Aline) McNeely of Columbia; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. John Henry Ring, Mrs. Dorothy McNeely, Mrs. Louise Lang and Mrs. Ruth McNeely; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, William Ferguson of Augusta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard Wilkes McNeely, William Spivey McNeely and Jessie McNeely. Pallbearers will be Christian Nix, Kenny Clymore, Ronnie McNeely, Jerry Parks, Michael Wayne Parks, Leonard Lewis McNeely and Johnny Ring.
