Mrs. Sara Mildred Carpenter Sargent, 93, resident of Paul Drive, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Moore, Rev. Gene Shelton, and Rev. Brian Wiesinger officiating. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Albert Houston Carpenter and Cora Schrader Carpenter. Mrs. Sargent was a former employee of the Housekeeping Department at King's Daughters' School and Maury Regional Hospital. She was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include three daughters, Joyce (O'Neil) Moore, Jean (Bill) Reischman, and Sue (Billy) Clark, all of Columbia; one son, Billy (Faye) Sargent of Columbia; one sister, Maudia Sargent of Anderson, Indiana; one brother, George (Mary) Carpenter of Columbia; eight grandchildren, Marilyn Moore, Stephen Moore, Jennifer Gregory, Michael (Krista) Reischman, Brenda (Tony) Seaborn, Terry (Angela) Sargent, Veronica (Ronnie) Bates, Wayne Clark; fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Ella Carpenter, Ruth Dixon, Claudia Lane, Dorothy Smith, Grace Gilliam; one brother, Mahlon Carpenter; and two grandchildren, Mark Reischman and Roger Moore. Pallbearers will be Terry Sargent, Wayne Clark, Mike Reischman, Tony Seaborn, Ronnie Bates, Jack Auville, and Herschel Currie. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult Sunday School Class of Grace Church of the Nazarene.
