Sara Thankful Breece Pigg

Sara Thankful Breece Pigg, 86, resident of Franklin, died Wednesday June 19, 2019 at Somerby of Franklin. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 4:00 P.M. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Born July 30 1932 in Hickman County, she was the daughter of the late William Egbert Breece and the late Minnie Estelle Elkins Breece. On May 2, 1950, she married William Austin Pigg, who preceded her in death on January 6, 2010. She was a 1950 graduate of Hickman County High School and in 1979 she earned her Associates Degree as a Registered Nurse from Columbia State Community College. Prior to working as a nurse, she worked for the Summertown School System from 1966 to 1976 filling various positions.  She worked at Maury Regional Hospital from 1979 to 2000, during those years she opened the outpatient surgery center. She was a member of the Graymere Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughters, Anita Pigg Davis (Patrick) Porter, Linda Pigg (John) Moore; sons, Randy Austin (Barbara) Pigg, Jimmy Wayne (Elaine) Pigg; five grandsons; sister, Ava Johnston; sisters- in-law Lorene Pigg, Virginia Pigg; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
