Sarah F Howell Ballard

Mrs. Sarah Frances Howell Ballard, 80, widow of Obed L. Ballard, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. William C. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late George Washington Howell and Nannie Mae Reed Howell. She was a 1947 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Ballard was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters Myrtle (Stanley) Holtman and Angie Ballard both of Columbia; sister-in-law, Frances Howell; and several nieces; several great nieces; three step-granddaughters, Angie (Kip) Watson, Avalyn (Richard) Bauer, Sara (Chris) Fugate; and four step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Howell and Naaman "B" Howell. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at NHC Hillview.
