Sarah Cochran Hill

Sarah Cochran Hill, 92, resident of Phinny Murphy Road, died Saturday June 29, 2019 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with David Morris and Brian Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Highland Church of Christ, 497 E. James Campbell Blvd., Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born November 5, 1926 in Hickman County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Cochran and the late Delia Mae George Cochran. She was a retired foreman for Johnson Control and was a devoted member of Highland Church of Christ where she previously taught children’s Sunday school class for many years. She was an excellent seamstress, farmer, homemaker, and for several years she had a children’s daycare center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Roy Cecil Hill on January 25, 2012 and her brother, Edward Cochran. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Glenn) Voss of Columbia, TN, Connie (David) Olive of Rogersville, AL, Becky Hill of Columbia, TN; son, Ronald Glenn “Ronnie” (Leylani) Hill of Houston, TX; sister, Bobbie Lowery of Centerville, TN; brothers, Roy (Joyce) Cochran of the Shady Grove Community and Otis (Mary) Cochran of Ypsilanti, MI; sister-in-law, Mildred Coffman of Franklin, TN; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; four foster children; several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will include Matthew Olive, Michael Olive, Grant Voss, Adam Voss, and Will Leesburg. Honorary pallbearers will be John Boyd Cothran, Gary Knox, and the Elders and Deacons of Highland Church of Christ.
