MRS. SARAH GEMMELL Mrs. Sarah Jane Jones Gemmell, 71, widow of Clayton C. Gemmell, Jr. and resident of Greenview Drive, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at St. Thomas Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 P.M., Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Paul L. "Chip" Spears, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. Mrs. Gemmell was the daughter of the late Ezra Crawford Jones and Mary Irene Jernigan Jones. She was born in Nashville and raised in the Carters Creek Community. She attended Spring Hill High School and Columbia Business College. She was a seamstress, retired employee of Burt Brothers Furniture Store and Lucille's Restaurant. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Diane (Terry) Youngblood of Columbia, one son, Wilbur Vernon (Judy) Kersey of Orlando, Florida, one brother, James Robert Jones of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; four grandchildren, Michael Youngblood, Melissa Youngblood, Mallory Youngblood, John Will Kersey; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Clayton C. Gemmell, III, two sisters, Eleanor Jones Dunning and Marguerite Bradford, and one brother, E. Crawford Jones, Jr. Pallbearers will be Bobby McPeak, William L. Watson, Jr., Terry Youngblood, Michael Youngblood, Charles P. Smith, James D. Bradford and Jon Price.
