Sarah Elizabeth Lee

Sarah Elizabeth Lee passed away February 19, 2018 in Spring Hill, Tennessee, after recently celebrating her 92nd birthday. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 1:00 P.M. at Rose Hill Cemetery. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born February 8, 1926 in Columbia, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Irene Hunnicutt Lee and the late James William (J.W.) Lee. A 1944 graduate of Columbia Central High School, Miss Lee began her career as a nurse during World War II and trained to be a surgical nurse at John Hopkins. Her nursing career spanned forty years and included work at both hospitals and private practices. She spent most of her career working for TVA running onsite clinics for workers in various Tennessee towns. After retiring from TVA, she moved back to Columbia to live with her mother, Irene. She spent the past decade at Willow Springs Assisted Living in Spring Hill, Tennessee, near her cousins, Janice and Betty. Survivors include her niece, Mary Helen Lee, and cousins, Janice Myers, Betty Wright, Jack Lee, and Francis Crawford Lee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James "Jim" Allison Lee and Joe Earl Lee.
