Mrs. Sarah Louise Graves Witherspoon, 88, retired day care worker and resident of Dyer Street, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Ezell Rose officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Riverview Baptist Church, 789 Santa Fe Pike, Columbia, TN 38401. In 1938 she married Loyd Hansel Witherspoon who preceded her in death January 18, 1989. Mrs. Witherspoon was a member of Riverview Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Loyd "Spoony" (Frances) Witherspoon of Columbia; one daughter, Mrs. Peggy (Tommy) Prentice of Hickman County; two sisters, Mrs. Frankie (Davis) Harwell of White Bluff and Mrs. Geraldine Gannon of Lebanon; one brother, Dorsie Graves of Pekin, Illinois; three grandchildren, Connie Witherspoon, Beth (J.R.) Phillips, Holly (Warren) Dudley; two step-grandchildren, Darrell (Julie) Prentice, David (Brooke) Prentice; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Darrell Prentice, David Prentice, J.R. Phillips, Warren Dudley, Tommy Prentice, Shane Petty, Billy Ray King and R. L. King. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Voss, Kirby Howell, Jerry Norman, Ronnie Mencer, James Boyd, Dr. Paul Perryman and members of Riverview Baptist Church.
