Mr. Searcy McPeak, 85, resident of 3rd Avenue, died Monday, May 7, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Hueston Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Neapolis Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Rutherford County native was the son of the late Ned McPeak and Jennie Sullivan McPeak. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. McPeak was employed as Farm Foreman at Middle Tennessee Experiment Station for thirty-eight years from 1948 until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years Bernice Harrell McPeak of Columbia; one daughter, Mrs. Patsy (Ray) Williams of Columbia; two grandsons, Brian (Star) Williams of Columbia, Randy (Judith) Hudgins of Lavergne; five grandchildren, Nathan Williams, Abby Williams, Benton Williams, Zachary Hudgins and Brandon Hight; and two brothers, Ned McPeak, Jr., and Charles (Jane) McPeak of Cross Bridges. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Hudgins and six brothers, Eugene McPeak, Robert McPeak, John L. McPeak, Clyde McPeak, Dewitt McPeak and Edward McPeak. Pallberers will be Ricky McPeak, Tommy Dudley, Jeff Helgren, Scott Helgren, Joe Duvall, Ray Williams, Larry Watson and Billy Hickman.
