Shelby Jean “MeMe” Bolton Hanvy, 79, resident of Campbellsville Pike, died Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Tony Brown and Brandon Mabry officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday after 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born July 25, 1939 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Bolton and the late Eunice Morgan Bolton. On September 14, 1957, she married Herman L. Hanvy, Jr. who preceded her in death October 29, 2010. She was a 1957 graduate of Columbia Central High School and worked for Publix Shirt Factory. Mrs. Hanvy then attended Columbia State Community College and earned her Associate’s degree in Business Accounting and worked for Columbia Regional Credit Union until her retirement. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who loved baking everyone’s favorite desserts and enjoyed sewing. Mrs. Hanvy was member of Bigbyville United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (Steven) McCanless and sons, Kenny Hanvy, and Terry (Kim) Hanvy of Columbia; grandchildren, Brandon (Heather) Mabry, Brittany (Ryan) Floyd, Cameron (Christina) McCanless, Alec Hanvy, Ryan (Kinsley) McCanless, Kendra Woody, Sam Hanvy, Shana Johnson, Austin Moss, Dustin Potts, and Josh Diaz; great-grandchildren, Tyler Floyd, Carter Woody, Liam Woody, Adalee McCanless, Ava Floyd, Shelby Kate Mabry, Kylee Moss, Kamdyn Russell, Journei Russell, and Hunter Diaz; sisters, Mary (Bill) Adkisson, Betty Thomas, Letha (Danny) Smith; brother, Benny (Alice) Bolton; sisters-in-law, Glenda Bolton, Josephine Johnson and Betty (Billy) Pilkinton; brother-in-law, Tommy (Lorenza) Hanvy; several nieces and nephews; and beloved pet, Teddy. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bonnie Dukes and Evelyn Felker; brother, Bill Bolton; and grandson Jack Woody.
