Shelby Jean Williams Grubbs, 83, retired employee of General Electric and resident of Columbia, died Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living. A family graveside service will be conducted Friday at 1:00 P.M. at Rose Hill Cemetery with Cliff Stanfill officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 11:00 A.M – 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, 1310 Franklin Road, Brentwood, TN 37027 or Middle Tennessee Pregnancy Center, 704 Dunnington Street, Columbia, TN 38401. Born October 28, 1936 in Dickson County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late James Ernest Williams and the late Mary Alice Waynick Williams. She married Gerald “Jerry” Allen Grubbs who preceded her in death April 23, 1988. Mrs. Grubbs was an avid bowler, and number one Jeff Gordan Fan. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Grubbs was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Vicky Lynn (Charles) Troope of Columbia; Cheryl (Mike) Padgett of Franklin; brother, Jimmy (Jo) Williams of Florida; grandchildren, Stephanie (Cliff) Stanfill; Cheryl Kaye (Ned) Rich; Jason Allen (Danielle) Troope; Shelby (Brent) Steele; great grandchildren, Tyler Stanfill; Jake Stanfill; Noah Jones; Emma Jones; Abby Jones, Easton Troope, Madison Jordon, Blake Steele; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Allen Grubbs, Jr.; and sister, Sue Snyder. Active pallbearers will be her nephews.
