Shirley Hood Crain

Shirley Hood Crain, 85, retired cafeteria worker for Brown Elementary, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at her residence in Columbia. A private family graveside service will be held at Polk Memorial Gardens. Born August 31, 1935 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Malcome P. Hood, Sr. and the late Eva Roberts Hood. She married Samuel Jefferson Crain who preceded her in death in 2001. Mrs. Crain was of Baptist faith. Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Crain Clifford of Houston, Mississippi; grandchildren, Sharon Nicole Leslie of Columbia; William Christopher Jones of Houston, Mississippi; great grandchildren, Scarlet Jade Leslie, and David James Leslie both of Columbia; Nela Grace Jones, Conner Hayden Jones, Emery Kate Jones, Christian Tate Jones, and Rialey Gage Tucker all of Houston, Mississippi. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Malcome P. Hood, Jr., and Alan Ray Hood.
