Shirley Gail West Pilkinton, 65, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at her home after an extended illness. She was a dearly loved wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend David Buffaloe officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. and Monday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born August 11, 1952, she was the daughter of the late J. B. West Sr. and the late Rebecca Agent West. She was the beloved wife of Rodger Glenn Pilkinton who she leaves behind. They were married on August 28, 1971 and were fortunate enough to have 46 wonderful years together. They enjoyed life to the fullest and treasured every moment. They were a comfort and strength for each other and their lives were richer because of their love and devotion for one another. She grew up in Maury County and was a 1970 graduate of Columbia Central High School. She attended Riverview Baptist Church. She was gentle and kind with a strong faith in God and was a blessing to all who knew her. She was quiet and softly spoken and had a gift for listening with a gentle heart. She loved cooking, sewing and gardening and all kinds of flowers, but above all she loved her family. She provided love, wisdom and guidance and doted on her nieces and nephews and their families and attended numerous activities involving them. They all have wonderful memories of her that will live on in their hearts.Other survivors include her siblings, J. B. (Gladys) West; Judy West King; Peggy West Alexander; nieces and nephews, Sonya (Don) Wyatt; Jason (Linda) West; Shane (Shannon) Alexander; Misti (Jim) Johnson; and Todd (Shanna) Alexander; great nieces and nephews, Savannah Sharp; Carson Wyatt; Hannah Alexander; Ashley Alexander; Ethan Wyatt; Stella Johnson; Abby Griggs; Emma Alexander; Bailey Alexander; Emma Johnson; and Reese Sharp. They all thank God for her and feel richly blessed for the time they were able to spend with her. They all remember the laughter, fun and all the good times shared with family. Active pallbearers will be Don Wyatt, Jason West, Shane Alexander, Jim Johnson, Todd Alexander, Carson Wyatt, and Ethan Wyatt.
