View Funeral Webcast Sonja Kay Howell Davis,76, homemaker, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at her residence on Knob Creek Road. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at First Family Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangement. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born April 12, 1943 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Haggard Howell and the late Eela Mae Laten Howell. On October 13, 1962, she married John L. Davis who preceded her in death January 28, 2017. She attended Woodrow Elementary School through the 6th grade and was a graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Davis was an active member of the Knob Creek Home Demonstration Club, and past member of the Maury County APTA. She enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events, sewing for her family, china painting, painting landscapes, antiquing, attending auctions, and flea markets. Mrs. Davis was very involved with church activities, including serving as assistant pianist, youth leader, VBS leader, and Women’s group at Knob Creek Baptist Church for many years and was currently a member of First Family Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Monica (Scott) Elias, Johnifer (Chris) Hicks both of Columbia; brother, Kirby (Olivia) Howell of Columbia; in-laws, Barbara (Charles) Keltner, Jerry Walters both of Columbia; grandchildren, Tori Elias, John Michael King, Sophie Elias, Rachel King; and nieces and nephews, Sammy (Tammy) Walters, Deric Keltner, Dana Walters, Kimberly (Phillip) Pullen, and David (Samantha) Howell. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Artie Ray Howell; sister-in-law, Carol Walters; and nephew, Michael Walters. Active pallbearers will be Sammy Walters, Deric Keltner, Phillip Pullen, David Howell, John Michael King, Blake Walters, Jonathan Walters, and Ryan Walters.
