Stanley Wayne Pilkinton, 77, retired purchasing agent for Rhone Poulenc in Mt Pleasant and Maury County Budget Office, died Wednesday, November 15, 2023 after a short battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jeremy Butt officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 12:00 until the service begins at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffith American Legion Post 19.
Born July 15, 1946, in Maury County, he was the son of the late Dudley Eugene Pilkinton and the late Barbara Burdette Pilkinton. Prior to working for the Maury County Budget Office, Mr. Pilkinton worked for Rhone Poulenc in Mt Pleasant as the purchasing agent for 31 years.
Mr Pilkinton is also a Veteran of the United States Army, The US Army Reserves, and The Tennessee National Guard.
He loved working on guns, trading guns, buying guns or just talking about them. He ran his own gun shop called “Lock, Stock, and Barrel” in Columbia in the 80’s. He helped his dad run an auction barn in the 70’s and pursued his own auctioneer’s license. He enjoyed deer hunting, skeet shooting, and shooting pool with his son or just spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Frankie Lunn Pilkinton of Columbia; Son, Scott (Cheri) Pilkinton of Thompson’s Station; Daughter, Molly Johnson of Columbia; Sister, Patricia Ann Gailiunas of Aubrey, TX; Sister-in-law, Vera Sue Riley (Ronnie); Grandchildren, Jacob Pilkinton, Joseph Pilkinton, Hannah Grace Pilkinton, Maverick Johnson, several nieces and nephews, and his German Shepherd “Rambo” and many great friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant children; Brother, Bobby Rudolph Pilkinton and beloved dog Trooper.
