MR. T.S. "DICK" SHELTON Mr. Thurman Stephen "Dick" Shelton, 90, retired dozier operator and resident of Alpine Drive, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Bedford County native was the son of the late Doc Stephen Shelton and Rebecca Jane Harrison Shelton. He was a member of Viola Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Edith Sara Cole Shelton of Columbia; two sons, Bill (Betty Jo) Shelton, Thurman Dean (Sandra) Shelton both of Columbia; daughter, Mrs. Joyce (Wayne) Shelby of Giles County; sister, Annie Cole of Columbia; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Baker, Fred Baker, Dr. Eslick Daniels, Dr. Thomas S. Dake, Loyd Witherspoon, Dr. James B. Kelley, Don Rose, Jimmy Campbell, Eddie Campbell, Jerry Norman, J.P. Due, Travis Littleton and Doug Gardener.
