View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast The Reverend Thomas Stuart Wilson, 80, Rector Emeritus of St. Peter's Columbia, TN, priest in the Episcopal Church, died Monday, February 28, 2022, at Williamson Medical Center surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5th, 2022, at 2 pm at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with The Right Reverend John Bauerschmidt officiating and The Reverend Chris Bowhay, The Reverend Michael Murphy, The Reverend Jason Terhune, The Reverend Yesupatham Duraikannu assisting. The Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 11:30 until the service in the parish hall of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Columbia, TN. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Father Wilson was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 3, 1941, to Edith Baker Wilson and John Henry Wilson. He graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, and went on to receive his Masters in Theology from The Berkeley Center for Episcopal Studies at Yale. He was ordained as Deacon in 1968 and Priest in 1969. He served as Rector at St. Cyprians (1969-1972) in Detroit, Michigan, St. John’s (1972-1987), Westland, Michigan and St. Peter’s (1987-2007) Columbia, Tennessee. On January 31, 1976, he married Jean Anne Teasdale Wilson who preceded him in death on April 11, 1993. Father Wilson is survived by his four children Blair Wilson, Beth (Brian) Holmes, Becky (Jason) Clayborne, Brett Wilson, all of Columbia, TN, beloved cousins Kathleen Werth and Judith Anderson of Macomb Township, Michigan, Richard Wade of Chicago, Illinois, Alice Baker of Rome, Italy, Grandchildren Ashley and Abby Wilson, Riley O'Brien, Taylor, Jacob and Emily Holmes, Reagan and Anderson Clayborne, Hazel and Charlotte Wilson, great-granddaugter Jada Joseph. Father Wilson loved to travel, especially to the United Kingdom. He traveled to England sixteen times and visited 39 of 42 cathedrals. Although, he majored in English he loved history, everything British and Civil War. He loved to cook and hosted every holiday and birthday for his family and loved ones. He was an avid bridge player and loved his Thursday and Sunday morning breakfast friends. After retiring in 2007, and fifty years of service to his congregations and the diocese, he continued to be active in his beloved parish, St. Peter's. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Baisden, Keith Click, Dr. Thomas Dake, Dawson Gray, Dr. John Olson, Mike Redding, Mike Sharpton, Pete Sloan, and Tom Webster.
