Mrs. Thelma Kirtley Barron, 96, resident of Life Care Center and longtime former resident of Whatley St., died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Penrod and Sarah Inzer Penrod. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leonard Lane, Frank H. Kirtley and John Andrew Barron. Mrs. Barron retired as a seamstress from Edric Manufacturing. She loved flowers and collecting dolls. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, John Wayne (Brenda) Kirtley of Columbia; a daughter, Mary Kirtley Winn of Columbia; a daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Winn Lane of Culleoka; 13 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Frankie Kirtley, a son, Doyle Lane, son-in-law, Thomas Winn, twin sister, Alma Penrod and two sisters, Arlie Cheek and Lorene Clayton. Grandsons and Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Gaylon Harris and the staff at Life Care Center.
