Our beloved mother and grandmother, Thelma Sue (Luckey) Mickle passed away at her home in MeAllen, Texas on Thursday, March 22. 2001 at the age of 72. Thelma will be remembered as a woman who always put her God, family, and friends before herself. She attempted to be a friend to everyone and was happiest when helping others.The daughter of George Washington Luckey and Onie Butler Luckey, Thelma was born in Madison County Tennessee in 1934. She worked for the county school system for many years and always remembered the many friends she made during her working years at Baker School. She married William Roy Mickle in 1958 and remained his faithful loving companion for 47 years until Roy's death in July 2006. Thelma was an excellent cook and many friends received special meals or fruit preserves prepared by her throughout the years. She was an active member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Columbia for many years before moving to Texas.Thelma is survived by five daughters, Leathea (Robert) Drello, Pamela (Ed) Norwood, and Dianna Niemjec, all of Atlanta; DeEtta (Danny) Jones of Memphis; Belinda Hodges of Mt. Pleasant; one son, Timothy (Lisa) Mickle of McAflen, Texas; one sister; Annie Anderson of Hornbeak; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, four sisters preceded her in death:Aveilou Allen, Hazel Broadway. Lena Hardy, and Eva Jenkins.The family wishes to thank Drs. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 30,2007 at 10:30 am at Oakes and Nichols with burial to follow at Folk Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Sammie Broadway.
