Theresa Harris Shouse

Mrs. Theresa Harris Shouse, 72, retired Taxpayer Services Representative for the Internal Revenue Services and resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at West 7th Street Church of Christ, 405 W 7th St, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences maybe extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born May 28, 1947 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late O.M. Harris and the late Mary Stanfill Harris. She was a 1965 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Shouse was known for her love of hats, never meeting a stranger and enjoying spending time with her family. She loved to travel, especially to Disney World. Mrs. Shouse was a member of Graymere Church of Christ and taught Sunday School for many years.   Survivors include her husband, whom she married, January 27, 1990, William Fred “Bill” Shouse of Columbia; children, Nikki (Brian) Hay of Columbia; Shea (Marc) Payne of Lascassas; Eric (Jenny) Shouse of Columbia; Matt (Ashley) Shouse of White House; grandchildren, Shelby Hay of Columbia; Sydney Hay of Columbia; Aiden Payne Lascassas; Bennett Payne of Lascassas; Phoenix Shouse of Columbia; Jonah Shouse of White House; Maddie Kay Shouse of White House; Carter Shouse of White House; great grandchild, Kennedy Crowley of Columbia; siblings, Eddie (Nora) Harris of Columbia; Donna (Carl) Leland of Columbia; Gail (Rea) Grissom of Huntsville, Alabama; George (Diane) Harris of Estelle Springs; several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren and nephews. The family would like to express a special thanks to the nursing staff at Vanderbilt CCU and ICU.
