Thomas Buford Dreaden

March 20, 1913 — August 28, 2006

Mr. Thomas Buford Dreaden, 93, retired employee of Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. and resident of Cayce Valley Drive, died Monday, August 28, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday at Graymere Church of Christ with John Vaughan, Wendell Robinson, Carmack Skelton and Kirk Brothers officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 3 - 8 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church. The Houston County native was the son of the late Thomas Lowe Dreaden and Clara Waynick Dreaden. On May 2, 1937 he married his wife of sixty-nine years, Lorraine McAulay Dreaden, of Columbia who survives him. He was a graduate of Yellow Creek High School in Houston County. He was a member of Tennessee Farm Bureau. Mr. Dreaden was a former deacon at Laurel Church of Christ in Knoxville and a former elder and Bible teacher at Graymere Church of Christ where he was a member. Survivors in addition to his wife are his daughter, Mrs. Jane (Eugene) Johnson of Louisville, KY; his son, Charles Norman Dreaden of Columbia; two sisters, Margaret Witt of Nashville, Christine Kirtland of Vanessa, VA; two brothers, E.K. (Teddie) Dreaden of Tennessee Ridge, Howard (Young) Dreaden of Hampton, GA; sister-in-law Nannie Dreaden of Erin; one granddaughter, Mrs. Sherrye (Scott) Isaacs and one grandson, Stacy (Tracy) Johnson both of Louisville, KY; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Johnson and Abigail Johnson both of Louisville, KY; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Buddy Voss, Joe Lancaster, Dennis Stephen, Glenn Kinnard, George Brazelton, Milton Perry, Ross Whitley and Roy Cathey. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present elders and deacons of Graymere Church of Christ.
