Thomas Edward "Billy" Brown, 78, resident of Sunset Avenue, died Monday, January 9, 2005, at Maury Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Eric Sandusky officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. He was a scale operator with Monsanto Chemical Company for many years. He was later employed with Kroger prior to beginning retirement with his wife of fifty-eight years, Opal Geneva Barlar Brown. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kathey Jean (Donald) Timmons of Madison; Nancy Ann (Stoney Lee) Wright of Columbia; two brothers, Arland Brown and N. C. Brown, both of Pulaski; four sisters, Gertrude Palmer of Murfreesboro; Eva Jane Palmer of Nashville; Thresia Ann Price and Mary Pinkston, both of Pulaski; three grandchildren, Thomas Elliott Timmons, Anna Katheryn Timmons, Blake Wright; and several nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the loving and supportive elders of Columbia's North and South congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses. The Brown family would like to acknowledge Dr. James B. Kelley of Columbia for his keen mind, skilled hands and nurturing nature that were all integral parts of maintaining the family's wellbeing over the last three decades.
