Thomas B. Forbes, 50, diesel mechanic, died at his residence on the Hampshire Pike Tuesday, November 8, 2005. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m., Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Gordy officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Born in Moorehead City, North Carolina the son of the late Thomas Bailey Forbes and Marjorie Stetler Forbes, he was a native of Lakeland, Florida. He was a member of the Channel 34 CB Club in Lakeland, Florida and a former rodeo bull rider. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Christine Allen Forbes of Columbia; three daughters, Sarah Forbes of Columbia, Diana Roser of Virginia, Cyndi Brown of Florida; three sons, Matthew Forbes and Zachary Forbes both of Columbia, Philip Horton of Florida; one sister, Susan (Doug) Wood of Ohio; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; two nieces, Erin Wood, Lauren Wood; one nephew, John Michael McDonald; two aunts; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, John McDonald.
