Thomas Steven "Steve" Journey, 55, retired from CSX Railroad and resident of Hemingway Drive, died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Centennial Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Tommy Vann officiating. Burial will be in the Loftin Cemetery with military honors by the Tennessee National Guard. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, 2221 Murphy Avenue, Nashville, 37203. Survivors include his wife, Jane West Journey of Columbia; his mother, Pollie Wilson Journey Lanius of Columbia; two sons, Thomas Ryan Journey of Columbia and Miles Weston Journey of Memphis; a sister, Becky (Robin) Smith of Valrico, Florida; a brother, Ray (Susan) Journey of Athens, Alabama; three grandchildren, Hayden Journey, Garrett Journey and Brooks Journey; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel R. Journey in 1993. Active pallbearers are Paul Dunn, Steve Beck, Steve Loftin, Larry Galbreath, Rickey Luna and Ronnie Grooms. Honorary pallbearers are Bart VanBibber, Grant VanBibber, Phillip Edwards, Tony West, Joseph West, Tim Pogue, Adam Sisk, John Peebles, Thomas Parkerson, Mark Johnson and Glenn Roark.
