Thomas Lee “Tom” Bills, 87, resident of Bear Creek Pike, died Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 4:00 P.M. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with John Waldrum officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born June 30, 1931 in Marshall County, he was the son of the late Little Audie Bills and the late Irene Taylor Bills. In 1955, he joined the United States Army and earned the rank Sergeant. On April 6, 1955, he married, June Lovett Bills. After the Army, he worked as an agent at Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company. Following retirement from Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company, Mr. Bills worked at Pinkard Security Company for several years. Mr. Bills enjoyed playing the banjo and guitar, and most of all he loved his family, he was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Above all, Mr. Bills was a faithful Christian. He was a longtime member of the New Lasea Church of Christ, where he loved passing out tootsie rolls to the children. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, June Lovett Bills; daughters, Cindy (Dewayne) Hickman, Janine Bills; grandchildren, Ashley Hickman, Ansley (Jordan) Renier, Alec Hickman, Taylor (Craig) Roper, Morgan McClure, Leah McClure; great grandchildren, Ava Kellum, Azalynn Hickman, Izek Renier, Knox Wagoner, Avery June Roper; brother, Benny (Doris) Bills; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ray Bills, Billy Bills, James Bills, Joe Bills, and Charlie Bills. Pallbearers will include Kenneth Bills, Kevin Bills, Edwin Bills, Eddie Lovett, Dewayne Hickman, and Billy Dean Chesnut. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of the New Lasea Church of Christ.
