Thomas Neeley “Tom” Flanigan, 68, former employee of Tennessee Department of Human Services and resident of Brookside Dive, died Monday, December 17, 2018 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care. A funeral mass will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Davis Chackaleckel officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to Harvest Share, P.O. Box 889, Columbia, TN 38402. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 1, 1950 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Thomas Neeley “T.N” Flanigan and the late Sarah Miller Flanigan. He was a 1968 graduate of Columbia Central High School, earned his Associate degree from Columbia State Community College and his Bachelor’s degree from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. For several years, he worked for Columbia Photo and Publix. Mr. Flanigan was a very accomplished wood carver, painter and photographer. He enjoyed gardening, reading and was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, whom he married October 6, 1990, Gerri Evers Flanigan of Columbia; daughter, Sarah Cecilia Flanigan of Columbia; sister, Mary Ann (Lawrence) Horner of Columbia; brother, Fred Flanigan of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
