Mr. Tommy Potts Mr. Thomas "Tommy" Potts, Jr., 65, retired from UCAR-Carbon as a mill-mix operator for 23 years and a resident of Carter's Creek Pike, died Friday, June 18, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Larry Sands and Penny Love officiating. The family will visit with friends after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late James Thomas Potts, Sr. and Nina Jones Potts and a graduate of Columbia Central High School. He served in the the U. S. Army Reserves for several years and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also served as a special Sheriff's Deputy and was a member of the Tennessee State Troopers' Association, Tennessee Sheriffs' Association, Fruit of the Vine and Tennessee Farm Bureau. Survivors include two daughters, Penny (Hugh) Love of Columbia and Machelle Bailey of Nashville; a sister, Christene Hudson of Nashville; a sister-in-law, Melba Jean Potts of Columbia; three grandchildren, Ashley Love, Hunter Love, Caitlyn Love, all of Columbia; three nieces, Brenda Hay of Nashville, Cookie (Doug) Boshears of Columbia, Linda Hay of Nashville; three nephews, Terry (Christine) Potts, Timmy (Lisa) Potts, David (Kim) Potts, all of Columbia; a great-niece, Robyn Boshears; four great-nephews, Jonathan Wayne Potts, Taylor Clinton Potts, John Garrett Potts, James Brandon Potts. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Potts and a brother, Clint Potts. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Potts, Timmy Potts, David Potts, Thomas Eugene Whitley and Dr. William Robinson.
