Timothy Edward Creel, 55, former customer service manager at Spring Hill Wal-Mart and resident of Spring Hill, died Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Steve Swango officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday after 4:00 P.M. concluding at 6:00 P.M. with The Bell Service by Tennessee Valley Branch 44 of The Fleet Reserve and visit again on Wednesday from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born March 15, 1962 in Great Lakes, Illinois, he was the son of Duwan Perley Creel of Columbia and the late Gaston Edward "Bud" Creel. A 1981 graduate of Columbia Central High School, he had been employed at Saturn and General Motors in Spring Hill, former deputy with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, former loan officer at First Bank of Maury County, and had been assistant manager of several businesses including AutoZone, Roses Department Store and Sonic Restaurant; and had been shift manager at McDonald's.Mr. Creel served in the U. S. Navy as Quarter Master during the Cold War and was a navigator on nuclear submarines. He was a member of Tennessee Valley Branch 44 of The Fleet Reserve Association and was instituted by his father as branch president. He was an avid fan of UT football and Atlanta Braves baseball. He enjoyed playing cards and camping. Earlier in his life, he and his family were very involved with gospel singing at revivals. He was a member of Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Nancy Stephens Creel of Spring Hill; sons, Robert (Aura) Creel of Columbia; Timothy Eric Creel of Spring Hill; sister, Brenda (Gerald) Vick of Columbia; brothers, Randy Creel of Baxter and Jim Creel of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Emma Grace Creel and Layla Jane Creel, both of Columbia; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Creel and brother, Bill Perley. Active pallbearers will be Nick Fischetti, Chris Holland, Brian Fisher, Troy Lovell, Mike Thompson, Eric McCandless, Chris Zibble, and Martin Padgett. Honorary pallbearers will include members of Tennessee Valley Fleet Reserve Association Branch 44.
