Tommy Ring Mr. Thomas "Tommy" Wayne Ring, 54, disabled American veteran, died Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at his residence on Chapman Lane. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bro. Monte McCandless and Greg Gwin officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday after 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Highland Rim, 2013 Elmer Pogue Drive, Columbia, TN 38401 or Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 22, P.O. Box 553, Columbia, TN, 38402-0553. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. He was the son of Ted E. Ring, Sr. and Mary Lee Crabtree Ring of Mt. Pleasant. He was raised in Maury County but for a time lived in Burleson, Texas where he worked for Laser Boats. Mr. Ring served in the U.S. Army with the Combat Engineers during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors in addition to his parents are one son, David Ring of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Rebecca Smith of Burleson, Texas; two sisters, Paula (Gary) McCandless of Columbia, Linda (Thomas) Claiborne of Hendersonville; two brothers, Ted (Sandra) Ring, Jr. of Columbia, Rusty (Pat) Ring of Hampshire; special friend, Lyndia Smith of Burleson, Texas; 5 nieces; 5 nephews; 6 great-nieces; 8 great-nephews; and several aunts and uncles. Pallbearers will be Tommy Claiborne, Bailey McCandless, Paul Ring, Stephen Ring, Chad Reynolds and Tim Duncan. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Harris, Mike Harris, Tim Ring, Joe Crain, Randy Whitman, Bobby Riddle and men of Collegeview Church of Christ.
