View Funeral Webcast Norman Travis Jett, 76, resident of Zion Road, died Saturday, July 4, 2015 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Church of Christ with David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. The family suggests memorials to Highland Church of Christ Building Fund or Panama Missions, 497 East Campbell Boulevard, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of condolence may be extended at oakesandnichols.com. A native of Marshall County, he was the son of the late Malcolm Rice "Bill" Jett and Iva Virginia Creecy Jett. He was a 1957 graduate of Cornersville High School and proudly served in the U. S. Air Force from 1961-1965. Mr. Jett retired from the maintenance department at Columbia State Community College in 1992 due to ill health and was a faithful member of Highland Church of Christ. "Travis' journey has just begun, the best is yet to come. No more sickness, no more pain, no more sorrow, no more tears. He is at rest from all the toils and struggles of this life. In 1995, he received a gift of love from an anonymous donor and was able to have a successful liver transplant. God has blessed our lives in so many ways." Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Harriet Ann Price Jett of Columbia; son, Scott (Cynthia) Jett of Spring Hill; sister, Judy (James) Cole of Lewisburg; brother, Gary (Betty) Jett of Cookeville; several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are Harvey Briggs, Curtis Flowers, Larry Jones, David Glasgow, Chaz Cutbill, and Paul Wagster. Honorary pallbearers include Martha Ann and Don Henderson, Wynona and Curtis Dowdy, Wanda and Terry Peery, Phillip Paul, Lynn and Wade Matthews, Paula Woody, Anita Turner, Nancee Glasgow, Brenda Bryant, Mary and Danny Jewell, Cheryl and David Williams, Gary Redding, Johnny Paisley, Don Westmoreland, L. G. White, Jerry Brady, doctors and staff at Nashville Veterans Hospital and staff at NHC Hillview.
