Tyrone Wade Collins, 62, former foreman for Uptain Construction Company and resident of Walnut Lane, died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:00 noon at Oakes & Nichols with Brother Donald Pruitt officiating. Burial will be in Knob Creek Cemetery with military honors provided by the Tennessee National Guard. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Army in Vietnam where he was awarded a Purple Heart. Survivors include a son, Timmy (Angie) Collins of Columbia; a daughter, Teresa Collins of Texas;his mother, Lula Mae Collins Ervin of Columbia; two granddaughters, Krissa Collins and Alyssa Odom of Columbia; three sisters, Patricia (Buck) Bishop of Mooresville, Shelia Holt of Pulaski, and Shelia (Linus) Head of Columbia; seven brothers, Larry (Shirley) Collins of Witchita, Kansas, Charlie (Phyllis) Ervin of Cornersville, Alford (Sandy) Ervin of Santa Fe, Mike (Anita) Ervin , Gerry Ervin, Ricky (Shelia) Hodge, and Terry (Diane) Hodge, all of Columbia; special aunt and uncle who reared him, Lennie and Calvin Collins of Spring Hill; cousins, Dewayne and Linda Collins of Decatur,Alabama and Brenda and Rusty Baker of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom B. Hodge; brother, Chester Ervin; step-mother, Jessie Mae Hodge, and step-father, Herman Ervin. His brothers and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
