Una Mae Ellis Steward, 90, died Monday, May 18, 2015 at her residence on Crestland Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Chris Grissom and Rev. Rick Elsey officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to West End Baptist Church, 900 West 7th St., Columbia, TN 38401. She was a retired Nurse Tech and private sitter. Ms. Steward was a member of West End Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters, Margaret Brooks of Columbia, Deborah (Gary) Carroll of Hohenwald; son, Wayne (Vivian Todd) Grissom of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Eddie (Jeanna) Brooks of Columbia, Cindy (Larry) Swafford of Lebanon, David Carroll and Cassandra (Shawn) Clanton both of Hohenwald, Chris (Stephanie) Grissom of Columbia, Blaze Cole of Lewisburg, Tiffany (Harold) Hodges of Clarksville, Kelly (Chris) Gill of Sayersville, New Jersey, Amanda (Jesse) Garrison of Columbia; twenty-three great-grandchilden; brothers, Thomas (Vickie) Ellis and Billy J. Ellis both of Columbia; sisters, Darlene (Billy) Floyd of Horn Lake, Mississippi, Margaret Ellis of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sons, James Thomas Grissom and Charlie Steward; parents, Eugenia and James Schneider and Thomas and Janie Ellis; brother, Howard Fautt; sister, Shirley McCandless; and son-in-law, Carl Brooks. Active pallbearers will be Brandon Brooks, Brett Brooks, Austin Swafford, Austin Garrison, David Carroll, Shawn Clanton, Patrick Pierce and Donald Sharp. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Shawn Gentry, the nurses on 3rd Floor West at Maury Regional Medical Center and the nurses and staff of Hillview Rehab Unit and Caris Hospice.
