Van Dockery

Clifford Van Dockery, 60, resident of Hampshire Pike, died Friday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a courageous battle with an insidious and rare form of cancer. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Smith and Dr. Jim Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Memorials may be made to Stem Cell Research Program, c/o Dr. John P. A native of Monroe County, he was a graduate of Tellico Plains High School and attended the University of Tennessee. He was employed by Monsanto Company for several years and since 1987 was production supervisor for Cytec Industries.He was a member of First United Methodist Church. An avid outdoorsman and horseman, he was a member of the International Barrel Racing Association.He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford C. Dockery.Survivors include his wife, Sara Catharine Thompson Dockery of Columbia; his mother, Loeta Underwood Dockery of Tellico Plains; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Dockery Powell of Franklin; a son, Jeffrey Allyn Dockery of Birmingham, Alabama; five grandchildren; a sister, Jalayne D. Johnson of Madisonville; a brother, Bob Edgar Dockery of Tellico Plains; his mother-in-law, Sue Bratton Thompson, widow of Dr. Bob Thompson, long-time Maury County veterinarian.Active pallbearers are Chuck Kafer, Danny Estes, Em Cragar, Gary Preston, Ray Hubler, Chad Hensley, Pete Allen, Adam Townes, Joe Johnson, Bob Bratton, Tom Bratton, and Joe Bratton.Honorary pallbearers include Dr. John P.
