Vera Ann Rose Allen, 81, resident of Columbia, TN died August 28, 2024 at her daughter’s residence.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Tatham officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday, August 30, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Vera was born on July 30, 1943 in Maury County to the late Ernest Merrell Rose and the late Ruby Carlyne Beckenbach Rose. She attended Mynders School and graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1961. Vera along with her husband owned and operated Lucille’s Restaurant for 27 years until her retirement where she made many friends during her ownership. Vera enjoyed tending flowers, nature, wild life, and watching Jimmy Swaggart’s praise and worship. She also enjoyed listening to gospel music but above all she loved her family! She also had a special love for her daughter’s yorkie Kingston who shared a special bond with her and gave her unconditional love. Vera attended First Assembly of God/ C1. 

Survivors include her children, Anita (Ronald) Ring, Randy (Alisa) Helmick, Tammy (Keith) Lyons, and Teresa (Todd) Doyle; sister, Merrellyn McCormick; sister in law, Joy Turner; step children, Don (Ann) Allen, Michael (Freida) Allen, Wade (Dana) Allen, and Corrine (Bobby) McKee; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life Bobby Joe Allen on March 24, 2016; two brothers, James Rose and Don Rose; two sisters, Linda Rose and Christine Riddle.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Matthew Ring, Asa Aldridge, Logan Doyle, Ethan Stewmon, Hunter Lyons and Conor Doyle. 

Vera will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. God has you in his arms and we have you in our heart!

The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Gibran Naddy and the nurses of Compassus hospice.
