Vera Clara Ussery Russell, 75, local realtor and resident of Still Pond Road, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 4:00 P.M. at Parkway Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Parkway Baptist Church and again on Saturday from 3:00 - 4:00 at the church. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born December 26, 1940 in Telfair County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Jasper Roland Ussery and Clara Shepherd Ussery. She was a 1959 graduate of McEvoy High School in Macon, Georgia. Vera was involved in the real estate business for thirty-eight years, including thirty-five years with White-Woodard Realty; and the past two years, she was associated with ReMax Fine Homes. She was a member of the Southern Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors where she received the Realtor of the Year Award in 1982. Throughout her career she received many awards, including the Andy Akin Award, the Career Achievement Award, and the Distinguished Service Award. Vera was a very people oriented person and her gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. She also enjoyed poetry and travel. A fantastic cook, it was known area wide that she made the best banana pudding. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and the JOY Sunday School Class. Survivors include her daughter, Kim Tyndall (Jeff) Scarritt of Columbia; son, Steve Tyndall of Columbia; sister, Ann Black of Macon, Georgia; grandchildren, Kelcie Scarritt, Jeffrey Scarritt, Jr., Jonathan Tyndall, Clara Tyndall; several nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Willie Maude Hines; and two brothers, Bo Ussery and Junior Ussery. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of JOY Sunday School Class of Parkway Baptist Church.
