MRS. VERA FRANCIS SPENCER Mrs. Vera Francis Vaughn Spencer, 76, retired bookkeeper and longtime resident of Arlington, Texas, died Tuesday, October 22, 2002, in Burleson, Texas. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Buddy Roberts officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice of Texas, 301 Medpark Circle, Burleson, Texas 76028. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Francis Vaughn and Vera McCandless Vaughn. She had made her home in the Fort Worth area since in 1950. Mrs. Spencer was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Texas, Daughters of the American Revolution, and United Daughters of the Confederacy. An avid breeder of sheltie dogs, she especially enjoyed obedience training and showing of her shelties and received many awards. Survivors include her husband of fifty-three years, Lynn Spencer of Arlington, Texas; two sons, William (Carol) Spencer of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; James (Melissa) Spencer of Weatherford, Texas; two grandchildren, Brad (Brandy) Spencer of Lawson, Missouri; Melissa Spencer of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; one great grandchild, William Spencer of Lawson, Missouri; and her beloved sheltie, Tori.
