MR. VERNON PRUITT Mr. Harold Vernon Pruitt, 76, retired self-employed painting contractor and resident of West Ninth Street, died Monday, May 26, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the New Antioch Cemetery in Hickman County with Brother Dorris Rader officiating. Military honors at the graveside will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Oakes & Nichols. Pruitt, Sr. and Sherman Churchwell Pruitt. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of VFW Post 4969. He was a member of the Mooresville Pike Church of Christ. He married Dorothy Mai Russell April 7, 1951. She preceded him in death November 24, 1999. Survivors include four sisters, Mildred Turner of Harrigate, Mary Runions, Freda June King and Nancy (William) Landry, all of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Pruitt, Billy H. Pruitt and Walter E. Pruitt, Jr. Active pallbearers are Mark Runions, Tracy Landry, Jackie Sprouse, Bill Landry, W. J. Churchwell and Brandon Sprouse. Nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
