View Video Tribute Vida Gene “Genie” Taylor White, 72, former resident of Oakwood Drive, died Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Poplar Estates. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Eddie Rogers officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. A private family inurnment will be held in Lone Oak Cemetery in Lewisburg. The family suggests memorials to the Maury County Animal Shelter, 1233 Mapleash Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born October 15, 1946 in Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Taylor and the late Evelyn Estes Taylor. She was a 1964 graduate of Marshall County High School and attended Belmont University for three years. Earlier in life, she was a flight attendant for American Airlines and later retired as director of the Columbia American Red Cross. Genie enjoyed painting, the outdoors, and was an avid UT Football fan. She worked for the Maury County Chamber of Commerce, was a former director of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and a member of Columbia Breakfast Rotary, where she was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. Survivors include her son, Lieutenant Colonel Taylor Patrick (Kelly Reeves) White; brother, Michael Estes (Debra Haber) Taylor; grandchildren, Payton Leigh White, Cambell Jane White, Sawyer Mae White, and Dawson George White; nephews, Nathan Taylor, Eric Taylor; niece, Austyn Taylor; and her devoted friend, Jennifer Grisham. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul David Taylor.
