Virgie Ann Medkiff Shelton

Mrs. Virgie Ann Medkiff Shelton, 82, homemaker and resident of Gwynn Road in Lebanon, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at University Medical Center in Lebanon. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Owens officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Jasper Claude Medkiff and Mary Elizabeth Foster Medkiff. Mrs. Shelton was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing her vegetables with friends. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Aubrey Shelton of Lebanon; two sons, Larry (Cindy) Jarnigan of Brentwood; Don Jarnigan of Montana; three sisters, Virginia Norman, Joan McKee, and Lota Young, all of Columbia; one brother, Evans (Olga) Medkiff of Miami, Florida; two grandsons, Brandon Jarnigan and Grant Jarnigan; several nieces and nephews; and devoted caretaker, Gloria Lane of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Atkinson; and two brothers, Ewell Medkiff and Jimmy Medkiff. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
