Virginia Louise Stofel Jones, 86, homemaker, died Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at her residence on Murphy Lane. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Friday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 27, 1930 in Giles County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Jim Stofel and Maggie Mae Pratt Stofel. On November 8, 1947, she married Robert Jackson Jones who preceded her in death July 9, 1995. She enjoyed working word search puzzles and was an avid wrestling and Tennessee Titan football fan. Mrs. Jones attended Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Jeff (Tonya) Jones of Columbia; daughters, Dottie Stewart of Culleoka and Kathy Massey of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Judy Jones of Culleoka; grandchildren, Malinda Rich of Columbia, Freddie McCullom of Culleoka, Kim (Matt) Thrasher of Columbia, David Massey of Mt. Pleasant, Danny (Nicole) Massey of Springfield, TN, Monoca (Scott) Whitfield of Holiday, TN, Julianna Jones of Columbia, Madison Jones of Columbia, and Chris (Kelly) Jones of Summertown; great grandchildren, Ashlyn Reese, Shayna McCullom, Michael McCullom, Haley Roland, Taylor Roland, Kane Jones, Dylan Jones, Caiden Massey, Austin Whitfield, Dayton Whitfield, Desiree Pruitt, and Kyndal Whitfield; and great great grandchildren, Joshua Young, Aliana Bell, Jackson Bell, Sarah Gray, Brenen Reese, Alana Reese, and Aribella Aydelotte. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William Ray Jones; brother, Grover Stofel; and great granddaughter, Kieara Roland. Active pallbearers will be David Massey, Matt Thrasher, Michael McCullom, Austin Whitfield, Dayton Whitfield, Taylor Roland, Danny Massey, and Randy Emmitt. Honorary pallbearers include her great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
