MRS. LAWRENCE W. LEE Mrs. Virginia Marshall Compton Lee, 92, retired teacher and resident of Westover Drive, died Sunday, October 27, 2002 at Heritage Manor. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Billy Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A native of Tazewell County, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Grover Marshall and Nancy Ann Mae Addison Marshall. She was a graduate of Radford College in Radford, Virginia and Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. Fifteen years of her thirty-three year teaching career began in Virginia. She later taught at Baker Elementary School in Columbia for fifteen years. Mrs. Lee was a member of the Maury County Retired Teachers Association.She was a member of the Faith Free Will Baptist Church and the Ruth Ford Circle at West End Baptist Church and the home demonstration club.She was first married to Charlie C. Compton who preceded her in death in 1956. He second husband, Lawrence Wolfe Lee, died in 1978.Survivors include two daughters, Jackie (Haldor) Primm and Faye Jordan, both of Columbia; three sons, Bob (Pat) Compton of Cincinati, Ohio, Bill Compton and Lonnie (Dot) Compton, both of Columbia; a sister, Annie Goodman of Dublin, Virginia; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildre; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Matney.Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
