Vivian Ruth Pilkinton Elliott Connelly, 92, former Maury County school teacher and a resident of Chapel Hill, died Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Life Care Center of Columbia.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Yerkes officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. She was born on September 28, 1932 in Maury County, TN to the late Carl Pilkinton and the late Louise Williams Pilkinton. Vivian graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1950 and received her teaching certificate from Cumberland University in Lebanon in 1952. One of her greatest joys was quilting and crocheting and giving them away to family and friends. She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Survivors include her five children, Lee Ann Baker, Tommy (Debbie) Elliott, Teresea (Kenny) Moore, Jimmy (Kim) Elliott, and Amy (Doug) Richardson all of Columbia; three step daughters, Carol Helton, Celia (Ron) Anderson and Sylvia (Coleman) Crockett all of Chapel Hill; three siblings, William (Judy) Pilkinton and Dane (Carolyn) Pilkinton both of Columbia, and Sue Eley of Lawrenceburg; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Kenneth Lee Elliott on November 25, 1976 and James W. Connelly on May 18, 2010; a sister, Barbara Ann Pilkinton Riddle; and a grandson, Adam Kenneth Baker.
Pallbearers will be Rick Elliott, Nathan Elliott, Ben Baker, Anthony Pylant, Derrick Adkison, Kevin Foster, Jason Bell, and Brent Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
