V.J. “Dusty” Crumley, 85, retired employee of PepsiCo and preacher for over 60 years, died Monday December 16, 2019 at his residence in Hampshire. A celebration of life will be conducted Saturday January 4, 2020 at 12:00 P.M. at the Mule Town Lumberyard, 1104 South Garden St, Columbia, TN 38401 with Reverend Steve Swango officiating. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born July 23, 1934 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Crumley and the late Dora Attkisson Crumley. In 1952, he married Evelyn Alene Thompson Crumley who preceded him in death on March 3, 2010. He owned and operated Dependable Disposable for over fifty years, and also worked at PepsiCo for over 50 years. He was a Free Will Baptist Pastor for over sixty years, and forty of those years he spent pastoring at the Columbia Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Crumley also had a radio program for many years called the Old Timey Gospel Hour. He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn (Doug) McCandless of Hampshire, TN; son, DeWayne (Sherry) Crumley of Tuscumbia, AL; grandchildren, Ryan (Beth) Crumley of Fort Mill, SC and Eric McCandless of Columbia, TN; great grandchildren, Rachel Crumley of Fort Mill, SC and Elijah Crumley of Fort Mill, SC; step grandchild, Josh (Felicia) Taylor; step great grandchildren, Chloe Hassard, Garrett Hassard, and Alayna Taylor. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by five infant children, Faye and Kaye Crumley, Randall Lee Crumley, Van Douglas Crumley, and Anita Louise Crumley; step grandchild, Kaye Taylor; and several siblings.
