MR. W.J. CHURCHWELL Mr. Warren John ?W.J.? Churchwell, 72, retired employee of Occidental Chemical Company and resident of Cliff White Road, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Centennial Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Judge Jimmy Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Maury County native was the son of the late Iley Sheridan Churchwell and Mary Pearl Gray Churchwell. He was a 1949 graduate of Columbia Central High School. On May 15, 1954 he married Joyce Marie Hughes, his wife of forty-nine years. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers from 1953 to 1984. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, John Scott (Mamie Jean) Churchwell, Warren Bruce Churchwell, both of Columbia; two sisters, Ann Norman of Columbia, Judy Gray of Lexington, Kentucky; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Kennedy of Ft. Myers, Florida, Margaret (Joe) Talley of Columbia; three grandchildren, Brannon Gray Churchwell, Pamela (Justin) McKennon, Ricky Baker, II, all of Columbia; one great-great grandchild, Alexia Mason McKennon; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Timothy Norman, Steven Talley, Brannon Churchwell, Ricky Baker, II, Buck Reed, and Reed Poling. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Sanders, Joe Talley, Terry Talley, Jim Poling, John Sweeney, Rip Collins, Dennis Chunn, Duck Chappell, Harvey Moore, Jimmy Bassham, Allen Duley, Jerry Colley and T.C. Norman.
