View Video TributeMr. Waldo Eskel "Wally" Rash, 71, resident of West 9th St., died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Jeremy Butt officiating. Entombment will follow in Polk Mausoleum with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to West 7th St. Church of Christ, 405 West 7th St., Columbia, TN 38401 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Madison, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Delmar Ira Rash and Wecy Ellen Miller Rash. He was a graduate of Austin Peay State University. Mr. Rash served in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam Era and while serving his country he also played the trombone in the military band. He was a retired auto computer aided draftsman for PME and Spandeck Inc. and a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19, Maury Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and Columbia Community Band where again he played the trombone. Mr. Rash was a member of West 7th Street Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Cooper Rash of Columbia; son, Derik Miller (Andrea Rhodes) Rash of Columbia; three brothers, Larry Allen (Evelyn) Rash, George Curtis (Dreama) Rash both of Wharton, West Virginia, Jerry Ray (Sharon) Rash of Rock Hill, South Carolina; 2 nieces; 3 nephews, 4 great-nieces; 1 great nephew; and special family and caregivers, Mrs. Gladys Cooper, Elmer (Pauline) Cooper, Vince Cooper, Brian Cooper, Josh Cooper, Ashley Cooper and Brody Cooper. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
