Walter David Fitzgerald, 63, retired from Maury Farmers Co-Op, died Friday, November 28, 2008 at his residence in the Hampshire Community. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 12:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Jim Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. A native of the Aetna Community in Hickman County, he was the son of the late Albert M. Fitzgerald and Eula Fisher Fitzgerald. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1965 - 1971 with a tour of duty in Vietnam and later transferred to the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Amy (Jeff) Morris of Hampshire; a son, Amos Fitzgerald of Columbia; grandchildren, Marlena Morris and Johnny W. Morris of Hampshire; sisters, Margie (James) Boshers and Martha (James) Black of Culleoka and Mary Bozeman of Nashville; brother, William Fitzgerald of Culleoka. He was preceded in death by sisters, Nina Joyce Senter and Louvinia Balthrop. Pallbearers are Laccie Anderson, Jerry W. Runions, Buddy McKennon, Jerry King, Jack Westmoreland, Johnny Cothron, Terry Senter, and David Black.
