View Video Tribute Wanda Mae Butcher Griggs, 69, professional cook, restaurant owner, and resident of North Cedar Lane in Pulaski, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Wales Baptist Church in Pulaski with Brother J. B. Higgins and Brother Jerry Wayne Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow in Kedron Cemetery in Giles County. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Wales Baptist Church. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Mitchell James Butcher and Fannie Mae Hedgecoth Butcher. Mrs. Griggs owned and operated Sweet & Sassy Restaurant for over ten years. She continued working in the restaurant business as cook for the Chew & Chat Restaurant until illness forced her retirement. In 1963, she married Garland Griggs who preceded her in death March 1, 2006. She was a member of Rose Hill Freewill Baptist Church for a number of years. Survivors include her son, Phillip (April) Griggs of Columbia; grandchildren, Kristin Watson and Makenzie Watson of Columbia and Christopher Griffin of Pulaski; special niece, Elizabeth (Sean) Collins of Pulaski; special nephew and niece, Ricky (Cathy) Clark of Pulaski; sisters, Mary Long of Athens, Alabama, Margaret (James) Brooks of Pensacola, Florida, Faye (Wayne) Bee of Pulaski, Linda (James) Hollingsworth of Shelbyville, Nettie (J. B.) Higgins of Pulaski, Frances (Fagan) King of Pulaski, Sharon (Mike) Clifton of Pulaski, and Renee (John) Stoltzfus of Finger; brothers, Tommy (Sheryl) Butcher and Kenneth (Ann) Butcher of Pulaski; aunt, Sadie Griggs of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are Ricky Clark, Sean Collins, Barry Long, Thomas King, Nick King, and Dwight Garner.
