Wayne Cathey Delk

Wayne Cathey Delk, age 81, of Hermitage, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Wayne was born on April 1, 1942 in Maury County, TN to his parents Edward and Hortense Whiteside Delk who preceded him in death. Wayne was a graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a degree in Mathematics Education. Wayne taught Mathematics at Dupont High School from 1968 until the school closed in 1986. He then finished his teaching career at Hunters Lane High School in 1999. He will be greatly missed by his beloved family, friends and all that knew him. Wayne is survived by his wife of 56 years Charlotte Kelley Delk, by his daughter Andrea Delk (Joel) Warhurst; son Steven (Stacey) Delk, brothers Eddie (Mary Carolyn) Delk, Harold (Carolyn) Delk, sisters Barbara Delk (Jim) Husband and Patricia Delk (Glen) Rodgers, grandchildren Andrew Warhurst, Megan Warhurst and Lilly Delk. There will be a visitation for Wayne on Friday July 7, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until time of the funeral services at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Lane Old Hickory, TN 37138 with Harold Delk officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:00 P.M. in the Delk Cemetery in Maury County with Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in charge of those arrangements. Family will serve as active pallbearers.
