View Video Tribute View Funeral WebcastL. Wayne Green, 81, former owner of Riverside Supermarket and resident of Bell Grove Drive, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Norton and Reverend Dave McIntyre officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00- 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Riverside United Methodist Church, 313 6th Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Charles Herman Green and Lucy Short Green. He graduated from Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant. For many years he worked for Food Marketing Services as Supervisor of Salesman. He was very passionate about University of Tennessee sports, fishing, and taking his girls to horse shows. Mr. Green was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. He always loved and was proud of his family. Survivors include his wife, whom he married August 14, 1973, Patricia Duncan Green of Columbia; children, Kyle W. (Betina) Green, Beth Green (Terry) Rippy, and Brittany Green (Alan) Floyd all of Columbia, Tiffany Green (Brannon) Lee of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Selena Rippy of Charlotte, NC, Chamberlain Green, Greenley Floyd, Landrey Floyd, Hadley Floyd all of Columbia, Lawson Lee and Easton Lee both of Murfreesboro; twin sister, Elaine Huckaby of Columbia; sister, Emily (Glenn) Mabry of Columbia; nieces and nephews, Julie (Bill) Allen of Raleigh, NC, Paula (Vance) Belew of Columbia, Sandra (Jim) Linam of Murfreesboro, Kerry (Kara) Huckaby of Columbia, Theresa Barker of Columbia, and Elisa (John) Vahlkamp of Houston, TX. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Clymer and brother, Charles Green. Active pallbearers will be Roy "Tootie" Hall, Charles Bassham, Mike Greene, Terry Rippy, Alan Floyd, Brannon Lee, Glenn Mabry, Kerry Huckaby, Vance Belew, Jim Linam, Frank Watson, and Larry Dooley. Honorary pallbearers include Doug Fowler, Alvanette Caldwell, Kim Willis, Faye Bassham, Judy Hill, Judy Watson and family, Tony and Susie Sowell and family, Dannette Gordon, Terry Duncan, Mark Graham, and friends of the P.O.A. Horse Show. The family would like to express a special thanks to nurses Candice, Charity, and Meredith from Maury Regional Medical Center ICU for their care during his illness.
