Mr. Wendell Wilkes "Buck" Wilson, 77, retired employee of E. I. Dupont and Spontex Corporations and resident of Clifton Drive, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville.Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bruce Peltier and Elmer Lusk officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday after 4:00 P.M. and Saturday from 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, P. O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or the charity of your choice. The Maury County native was the son of the late Vernon Wilson and Lillian Martin Wilson. He was a 1947 graduate of Culleoka High School. He served in the U. S. Army 1st Cavalry during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Tennessee National Guard and Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. He was a former member of Golden K Kiwanis. Mr. Wilson was a member of Eastside Church of Christ and attended New Song Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife of thirty years, Patsy House Wilson of Columbia; three sisters, Edith Wilson (Hardin) Voss of the Glendale Community; Jean (Bobby) Childrey of Columbia; Peggy (Bill) Jones of Culleoka; one brother, Doug (Jane) Wilson of Franklin; brother-in-law, J. L. Hobbs; sisters-in-law, Jean Malone Wilson, Cornelia Wilson, Gayle Mingledorff, Sherry (Jim) Thurman; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved pets, Peyton & Lexie. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Hobbs, Reba Dixon; three brothers, Charles Wilson, Thomas Milton Wilson, Bobby Wayne Wilson; and one sister-in-law, Ellen House Matheny.Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow employees and friends at Dupont and Spontex Corporations, Golden K friends, Tom Miller, Ray Westmoreland Jack Westmoreland, Wendell Westmoreland, Alton Westmoreland, David Boyd, Mike Cline, Charles Beckham, Roy Daubney, Nelson Lyles, and Wayne Coffman.
